It was a normal day at Colegio Base, except it wasn't. Lauren was a student at the school. She had jet black hair, mesmerizing emerald orbs and fair complexion. Her friends often teased her about looking like a vampire.
It was the beginning of the school year, and a new teacher, Mr. Oswald, arrived at the school. He seemed quite nice, but there was something eerie about him- his skin was surprisingly pale. He would be replacing the last English teacher who had had a mysterious car accident during the summer.
He started off the class with a brief presentation of who he was. By the end of the lesson, everyone loved him. He was such a great teacher, he was laid-back and funny, too. But not for Lauren, he just seemed so suspicious to her. There was something off about him, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
The next few weeks were uneventful. School was still boring for Lauren and her friends Gerard and Brendon, but they were coping. In the end, they still had each other. One day, they noticed that one of their classmates, Clara, had gone missing. No one seemed to notice, they probably thought she was sick or something like that, but Lauren and her friends were worried something else might be happening. Clara never returned to school. The same thing happened to another student. After a few weeks, no students went missing, and Lauren was getting desperate. She just couldn't figure out what was happening. But that was until, one day, Brendon pointed something out to her. Mr. Oswald was looking extremely tired, and even paler than usual. He had bags under his eyes, he looked like he hadn't slept in weeks, and his voice was weak, almost inaudible.
So Lauren made a decision. That same afternoon, Gerard, Brendon and her would be following Mr. Oswald home to find out more about him and, hopefully, solve the mystery. But what the three friends hadn't been expecting was that their teacher didn’t go home at all. After last period they saw him get into his car, but he never started it. He stayed there in the parking lot until everyone else, except for the three young detectives, had left the school. When he thought he was alone, he got out of his car and started walking towards a small shed that was in the school and he entered it. Lauren and her friends waited for a few minutes and then, ever so quietly, opened the door. They were surprised to find that their teacher wasn't there. Where could he have gone? After investigating the shed for a while, Gerard spotted a well-hidden trapdoor and all three went through it.
The trapdoor led to a dark and creepy staircase with more than a few steps missing. They could hear scary sounds coming from downstairs, like a knife repeatedly hitting something, probably bones, which made cracking noises. When they reached the end, Lauren slowly poked her head around a corner to see what was going on. In the dimly lit room, she could see Mr. Oswald, although he was facing the other way. He had a huge knife in one hand… and a human arm in the other one. Lauren had to fight the urge to scream out of sheer terror. She carefully pulled her phone out of her pocket, made sure it was silenced and started recording the murderer. They had to get proof to take to the police. The teacher was dismembering and eating the students who had mysteriously disappeared. With every bite, he got stronger.
Unfortunately, Brendon tripped and bumped into Lauren, who fell to the floor. She made a loud thud when she hit the ground, and Mr. Oswald noticed her. Lauren started running around the room with her teacher chasing her. She was fast, but she started getting tired after a few minutes and she couldn’t keep up the pace. Mr. Oswald, however, never seemed to run out of energy. The poor pale man was out of breath and she thought she was going to die, when Gerard, who had gone unnoticed by the teacher, grabbed a huge metal pipe he found on the floor and hit the teacher on the back of the head. He hit him so hard he left him unconscious. Terrified that he might wake up any moment, the three friends ran up the stairs and out of the school as fast as they could. They hopped on their bikes and pedaled at full speed.
As soon as they got to Brendon’s house they called the police and told them everything they had seen. The police went to Brendon’s house and when they saw the video they immediately went looking for Mr. Oswald. But they never found him.
A few years later, when everyone had put that experience at the back of their minds and tried to forget about him, Mr. Oswald, hungry for revenge and human flesh, found Lauren’s house and went there to kill her and eat her. When she saw him, a single tear rolled down her cheek, but she didn’t attempt to run. She knew she couldn’t escape him again. He looked different from the last time she’d seen him. He looked full of energy and really strong. He had been feeding a lot lately, he needn’t eat more food. He just wanted to kill her because she was a threat. Before she let him kill her, however, she asked him a single question. Why? Why did he want to kill her? He laughed devilishly and looked at her with evil eyes.
‘Because I can’.
